History

The Al Rajhi Bank Ladies Painting Competition was first launched in 2010 as a special initiative that spotlights the artistic talents of ladies in Saudi Arabia, as well as spreads appreciation for the country’s art culture.

Building on the success of that first year, we decided to turn it into an annual competition and so proceeded to enhance the 2011 Competition by venturing online with an environmentally friendly platform at the heart of our thinking. In response to customer feedback, we made it easier with 4 simple steps, more transparent and gave control to the community by creating a voting based judgment system where the paintings with the highest votes won.

Over the past two years, we’ve received more than 5,000 paintings and were humbled by the high quality of talent and creativity residing in the ladies of the region, and the appreciation it triggered. Considering the new insights and the competitive spirit of both artists and voters, we took it a step further for 2012. This year, participants will be competing online and on a level that will bring them international acclaim.
